About The Author
Doni Whitsett, Ph.D., LCSW, is a Clinical Professor Emerita of Social Work at the University of Southern California and a psychotherapist in Los Angeles with a specialty in trauma, coercive control and manipulation. As an AASECT certified sex therapist she also specializes in sexual abuse. She has dedicated her life to helping others through teaching, therapy, and community service.
In June 2023, when Sasha decided she had had enough of being cooped up in her pet carrier after a long airplane ride, her escape to freedom precipitated one of the worst months of her family’s life. With the incredible determination and emotional support of Sasha’s Uncle Mikhail, Doni’s determination showed the strength and love she has for her little feline baby. She hopes this story will be a heartwarming reminder that kindness, courage, and friendship can be found where we least expect it.
